The Springfield Spartans's game on Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against Coventry by a score of 52-45. For Springfield, this counts as revenge for the 51-38 loss the Comets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Anthony Ahern continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists. Another player making a difference was Brady Hahn, who scored four points.
Despite the loss, Coventry saw an underclassman step up: Alex Meinen scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reggie Edwards, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Springfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Coventry, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield and the Wildcats will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Coventry, they will head out on the road to face off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
