The Ashley Screaming Eagle will head out on the road to face off against the South Brunswick Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashley is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Ashley suffered a rough 58-32 loss at the hands of Cardinal Gibbons. While losing is never fun, Ashley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Cardinal Gibbons is ranked 61st).
Despite their defeat, Ashley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Keyon Jones, who scored 7 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Bentley, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Brunswick was able to grind out a solid victory over Whiteville on Friday, taking the game 55-44. The win made it back-to-back wins for South Brunswick.
New Bern's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Ashley's defeat dropped theirs to 1-3.
Ashley was able to grind out a solid victory over South Brunswick in their previous matchup back in January, winning 58-47. Will Ashley repeat their success, or does South Brunswick have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
