2A Evergreen recap October 22, 2013
Tumwater extended the longest winning streak in 2A Evergreen this week by beating Centralia, 59-20. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Tumwater led the league in scoring this week after putting up 59 points on the Tigers. Christian Cummings ran for 109 yards and caught 1 pass for 20 yards in the win.
Sid Otton's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jayden Croft threw for 59 and 1 touchdown and Cummings had 20 yards receiving. On the ground Cummings chipped in 109 yards. Gabe Gleizes helped Tumwater's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 20 yards.
Cummings provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Thunderbirds topped Centralia.
Cummings was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Easton Trakel added to the ground attack by rushing for 41 yards.
Tumwater's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Thunderbirds feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Croft has thrown for 716 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Trakel has 14 catches for 290 yards.
Cummings of the Tumwater is just 18 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 101 carries Cummings has put up 982 yards this year.
At the moment, the Thunderbirds are in first, while the Hawks are in third.
