It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Hampton County Hurricanes had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 37-21 victory over the Volunteers. Winning may never get old, but Hampton County sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Zion Dobson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 154 yards and four touchdowns. Dobson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Terry, who rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Andrew Jackson still got an impressive performance from Trey Thompson, who rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns. Thompson is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.
Hampton County pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.3 points per game. As for Andrew Jackson, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.
Hampton County will square off against Oceanside Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Oceanside Collegiate Academy: 8.9, Hampton County: 9.6) so any points scored will be well earned. Andrew Jackson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
