The Webster Thomas Titans will take on the Bishop Kearney Kings at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Webster Thomas' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Batavia 10-0. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Joseph Rotondi-Hrywnak made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rotondi-Hrywnak was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Max Seaver looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Sean Griffin, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Tyler Estelle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Webster Thomas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Bishop Kearney took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Lima Christian.
Like Webster Thomas, Bishop Kearney also got a great game from a two-way player: Athan Valentini. Throwing, Valentini pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Henry Collins struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. At bat, Valentini got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Collins went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Collins has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Augie Valentini was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Rupp, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Webster Thomas now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Bishop Kearney, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
