On the hitting side, South Bend Saint Joseph got a big performance out of Mary Stack, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits Stack has posted since back in May of 2024. Bella Esquibel also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, South Bend Riley fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against New Prairie on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 5-3. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.
KAELYNN HOWELL spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, RACHEL HUNT made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI.
South Bend Riley now has a losing record of 7-8. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. South Bend Saint Joseph has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like South Bend Riley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Bend Saint Joseph skirted past South Bend Riley 1-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
