The Owen County Rebels will take on the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Owen County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Owen County got the win against Trimble County by a conclusive 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brody Hearn made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Owen County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Trip Allnutt, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Owen County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trimble County only posted a batting average of .087.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Lloyd Memorial's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against Grant County, falling 12-3.
Lloyd Memorial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Begnoche, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Begnoche has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.
Owen County is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Lloyd Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 16-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Owen County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lloyd Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Owen County came out on top in a nail-biter against Lloyd Memorial in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Juggernauts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
