You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Winner Warriors' strategy against the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers this past Friday. Winner put a hurting on Mobridge-Pollock on the road to the tune of 72-39. That result was just more of the same for the Warriors, who also won the last time these teams played (Feb. 15 of last year).
The contest started off well for Winner, whose offense put up 40 first-half points. Mobridge-Pollock wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 40-15 heading into the break. Winner's offense just added to that total in the second half en route to their big win.
It was another big night for Winner's senior Morgan Hammerbeck, who had 18 points and five assists along with nine boards. Junior Kalla Bertram was another key contributor, picking up 13 points. Bella Swedlund also contributed 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals to help the cause.
The victory for Winner kept them a perfect 18-0. The defeat dropped the Tigers' record to 12-10.
The Warriors will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Miller. Miller is coming in off of a big 62-26 win over Highmore/Harrold. As for the Tigers, they will face off against Cheyenne-Eagle Butte on Tuesday. If you head out to watch the game, expect to stay the whole 32 minutes: the MaxPreps rankings predict a close matchup.
