The Lincoln County Lynx will face off against the Grand County Red Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Grand County will be up against a hot Lincoln County squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Lincoln County blew past Pahranagat Valley 14-7 on Saturday. 14 seems to be a good number for the Lynx as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Sage Carlson was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bentley Barnes, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Lincoln County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Grand County came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 18-3 win.
CHLOE Byrd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Grand County let Kemree Wells and Kaiya Moore run wild. Wells scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Moore scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Wells a new career-high in RBI (three). Danica Hirschfeld was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Grand County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln County, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lincoln County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .533. However, it's not like Grand County struggles in that department as they've averaged .542. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
