Red Cloud is 7-2 against Heartland Lutheran since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Red Cloud Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Red Cloud ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past Blue Hill with a 56-51 victory. Red Cloud's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Among those leading the charge was Logan Brown, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Kari Kucera was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Heartland Lutheran didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Franklin on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 33-28 victory. The victory was just what Heartland Lutheran needed coming off of a 54-24 defeat in their prior match.
Heartland Lutheran can attribute much of their success to Brielle Saddler, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals, and Ella Francl, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Francl is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ema Koch, who scored five points.
Red Cloud has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Heartland Lutheran's record now sits at 5-9.
Everything came up roses for Red Cloud against Heartland Lutheran in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 65-18 win. With Red Cloud ahead 30-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
