After two games on the road, Christian Academy is heading back home. They will take on the Henryville Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought game, but Christian Academy had to settle for a 52-50 defeat against the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Eagles are ranked 18th).
Christian Academy might have lost, but man, Joshua Renfro was a machine: he went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 3 assists. That was a full 54% of Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was David Cook, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Henryville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Providence 75-40. Henryville has struggled against the Pioneers recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Christian Academy's defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-3. As for Henryville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Christian Academy beat the Hornets 53-42 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Henryville's Eli Kleinert, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Christian Academy to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
