The Robinson Bulldogs will square off against the Central Cabarrus Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Wednesday, Robinson didn't have quite enough to beat Mount Pleasant and fell 7-5. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.
Robinson got a good showing from Paxton Carter, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Carter has allowed since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Aury Greenfield and Jacob Barbee stepped up to the plate in a big way. Greenfield scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Barbee got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Greenfield is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Bryson Honeycutt was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Central Cabarrus lost 14-2 to West Rowan on Tuesday.
Central Cabarrus saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paulie Coubal, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Robinson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Central Cabarrus, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Robinson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Central Cabarrus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Robinson skirted past Central Cabarrus 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Does Robinson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Cabarrus turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
