Lake Norman Charter has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the West Rowan Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Lake Norman Charter has not done well against Hough recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Lake Norman Charter came out on top against Hough by a score of 62-52.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Norman Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braden Wilkie, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Irelan, who scored 10 points along with 5 assists.
Meanwhile, West Rowan took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (and then some). Everything went their way against North Iredell as West Rowan made off with a 67-47 win.
West Rowan can attribute much of their success to Will Givens, who scored 25 points. Kayvone Norman was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals.
The losses dropped Lake Norman Charter to 2-1 and Hough to 0-3.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Lake Norman Charter have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 40.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like West Rowan struggles in that department as they've drained 43% of theirs this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
