Baseball Recap: Thatcher Sets Scoring Season-High Against Palo Verde

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thatcher). Everything went their way against the Palo Verde Titans on Monday as Thatcher made off with a 20-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.

Jagen Hall and Jett Howard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hall pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Howard pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, Hall didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. At the plate, Hall went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Howard scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two RBI gave Hall a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brant Duncan and Brig Romney did most of the damage at the plate: Duncan scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Romney scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave Romney a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jax Shupe, who scored three runs and stole a base.

Thatcher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Thatcher's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Palo Verde, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Thatcher Eagles take on Rio Rico Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Rio Rico has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Palo Verde, they will venture away from home to challenge Sabino at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
