The Putnam Clippers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 70-47 walloping at the hands of Stonington. Putnam lost against Stonington in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 85-35 score last time.
Several Clippers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Mailloux, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Mailloux scored 15 or more points. Aysaiah Chavez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight assists and three steals.
Putnam now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Stonington, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Putnam will head out on the road to square off against Plainfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stonington won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Scituate at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. Scituate is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
