The Astoria Fishermen's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Scappoose at home and fell 43-6. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Astoria in their matchups with Scappoose: they've now lost five in a row.
Max Nowlin looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 254 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84% of his passes. Derek Bond was another key contributor, picking up 65 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Astoria's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for Scappoose, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Astoria does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Scappoose will be playing in front of their home fans against Ashland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ashland is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
