The Greene County Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 60-34 defeat at the hands of Hancock. While losing is never fun, Greene County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 412th in Alabama, while Hancock is ranked 114th in Mississippi).
Greene County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lester Scott, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Jessie Pelt was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Greene County were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. This was only their 11th loss (out of 13 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Greene County's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Hancock, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greene County will take on Noxubee County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hancock, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gulfport at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
