Spanish Fork has gone 9-1 against Springville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Dons will host the Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Spanish Fork's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Timpview as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won six in a row.
The team relied heavily on Lia Higginson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Donegan, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Spanish Fork hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Springville entered their tilt with Wasatch on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Wasps with a sharp 20-8 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brooklynn Richardson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Morgan Fairbourne, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Springville pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Spanish Fork, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Spanish Fork hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Springville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Spanish Fork was able to grind out a solid win over Springville in their previous matchup back in March, winning 5-2. Will the Dons repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
