Ira is 2-8 against Westbrook since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Ira Bulldogs just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Westbrook Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. on February 9th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ira came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Hermleigh 61-37. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Ira had established a 23 point advantage.
Meanwhile, Westbrook scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 91-16 win over Trent at home. The victory was nothing new for Westbrook as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Ethan King was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brannon Larson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Ira has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Westbrook, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.
Ira was dealt a bruising 74-30 loss at the hands of Westbrook when the teams last played back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Ira was down 35-10.
