After a string of three wins, the Medina Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Royalton-Hartland by a score of 43-41. Medina has not had much luck with Royalton-Hartland recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerrell Nealy, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Nealy is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Callard, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Medina smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Royalton-Hartland only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Royalton-Hartland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Remington Albee, who scored 12 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Albee posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Dan Aquilina, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds.
Medina now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Royalton-Hartland, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-8.
Medina will head out on the road to challenge Newfane at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Newfane's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for Royalton-Hartland, they will take on Oakfield-Alabama at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
