Marshall County and Tullahoma are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Marshall County Tigers face off against Tullahoma Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marshall County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Last Monday, Marshall County didn't have quite enough to beat Franklin County and fell 10-9. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Zakiya Taylor was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlee Cole, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Taylor wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Marshall County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Tullahoma entered their tilt with Franklin County on Tuesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Rebels 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Amaya Sharp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, Madison Goad was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kylee Holt was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
The win got Tullahoma back to even at 5-5. As for Marshall County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Marshall County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Tullahoma struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
