After a string of five wins, the Unioto Shermans's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 59-46 to Jackson. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Unioto has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Unioto saw an underclassman step up: Magnolia Holbert scored 18 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holbert has scored all season. Aidyn Danison was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Jackson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mattie Walburn, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of T.j. Carpenter, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Unioto's loss ended a 17-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-3. As for Jackson, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Unioto didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-21 victory vs. Southeastern on the 9th. Jackson has also already played their next matchup, a 47-36 victory against Vinton County on the 10th.
