The Valdosta Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Camden County Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Valdosta is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Valdosta posted their closest win since November 20, 2023 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lowndes 50-47. Given Valdosta's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Vikings are ranked 273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valdosta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Israel Jenrette, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Jenrette hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Jabarri Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.
Meanwhile, Camden County can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They blew past Richmond Hill 60-38. The win made it back-to-back wins for Camden County.
It was another big night for Elyiss Williams, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Williams is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Antwann Brown, who scored 13 points.
Valdosta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Camden County's record is now 18-5.
Valdosta came up short against the Wildcats in their previous matchup back in January, falling 57-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Camden County's Ja'Marley Riddle, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Now that Valdosta knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
