St. James will head out to face off against Stoutland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Monday. St. James sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Waynesville.
JV Meurer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. St. James is 2-1 when Meurer posts eight or more strikeouts, but 2-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drake Plummer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Hudson, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Stoutland hadn't done well against Plato recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Eagles 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Stoutland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Morrow, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Morrow continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Jesse Dickinson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Stoutland's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for St. James, their record now sits at 4-14.
St. James suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Stoutland when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can St. James avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
