Southern Wells hasn't had much luck against Jay County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Raiders will look to defend their home field against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Southern Wells is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Randolph Southern on Monday as they made off with a 15-4 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak.
Kaylea Coffel made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Coffel was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 games.

In other batting news, Southern Wells got a massive performance out of Remi Holmes, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave Holmes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keely Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Southern Wells always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Jay County entered their tilt with Elwood on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Panthers 15-5. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly ten runs.
Mallory Winner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Winner was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jaelynn Lykins was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Brenna Ruble was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Southern Wells' win bumped their record up to 2-16. As for Jay County, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southern Wells has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jay County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
