The Muleshoe Mules lost against the Texico Wolverines back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Muleshoe had to suffer through a rough 74-34 loss at the hands of Texico. While losing is never fun, Muleshoe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 1042nd in Texas, while Texico is ranked 53rd in New Mexico).
Several Mules players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaron Morales, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Baylee Lovelady, who scored four points.
This is the second loss in a row for Muleshoe and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Texico, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Muleshoe will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Bovina at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Miguel Lopez and Sebastian Kirven. Texico and Sundown will face off at 12:30 p.m. on December 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sundown comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
