Basketball Recap: Cascade Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Cascade extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 3-1. They enjoyed a cozy 45-27 victory over the Speedway Sparkplugs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cadets also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

As for Speedway, they now have a losing record of 2-3. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Speedway saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madelynn Matelic posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for Matelic. Abby Noblet also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Cascade will square off against Tri-West Hendricks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Speedway, they will challenge Covenant Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
