The Elgin Maroons will head out to  challenge the Aurora East Tomcats  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Both  have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Elgin and six for Aurora East.
Elgin saw some tournament action  last Monday. They had to suffer through a   78-22 loss at the hands of Downers Grove North. While losing is never fun, the Maroons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings  (they are ranked 537th, while the Trojans are ranked 77th).
 Meanwhile, Aurora East was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap  on Monday as they fell  38-32 to Walther Christian Academy.
 Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Aurora East, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
 Elgin didn't have too much breathing room in their  game against Aurora East  when the teams last played  back in January, but they still walked away with  a  47-42 victory. Will Elgin repeat their success,  or does  Aurora East have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
