With a playoff win on the line, Pace rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past the Evans Trojans with points to spare, taking the game 20-6. The win was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on ten straight.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Tagg Strickenburger and Makael Williams. Strickenburger rushed for 87 yards and one TD while Williams rushed for 103 yards and a pair of scores. Strickenburger's longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards.
Pace was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 216 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
One reason for the win was Pace's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 8.5 sacks. Evans' QB won't forget Noah Hamlin anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Hamlin is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another thorn in Evans' side was Bowen Iorg, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Li'Darious Pryor, who rushed for 135 yards on only 15 carries.
Pace's record now sits at 10-1. As for Evans, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
Coming up, Pace will venture away from home to square off against Mandarin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Williams and Shaunqueze Foster. Evans does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
