The Wellington Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They strolled past Platte Valley with points to spare, taking the game 26-7. This was payback for Wellington, who suffered a 28-6 loss the last time these two teams met.
Leading Wellington to victory were Cash Altschwager and Tanner Gray. Altschwager rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, while Gray rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns. Altschwager is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Wellington's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. As for Platte Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Wellington will look to defend their home field on Friday against Bennett at 7:00 p.m. Bennett is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Platte Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Prospect Ridge Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Prospect Ridge Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
