The Atkinson County Rebels lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. Their tough 51-30 loss to Charlton County might stick with them for a while. Atkinson County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Charlton County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Atkinson County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ja'Kari Northcutt, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamari Moore, who scored ten points.
Charlton County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rihanna Battle out in front who scored 21 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Battle has scored all season. Mahogany Steele was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 23 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Atkinson County and nudges their season record down to 16-8. As for Charlton County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-12.
Atkinson County will head out on the road to challenge Turner County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Charlton County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Echols County at 6:00 a.m.
