Hudson Merica made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Shepard Merica was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Christian Bontrager was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.
Fort Wayne Crusaders kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indy Genesis HomeSchool only managed seven.
Meanwhile, Fremont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Central Noble, falling 10-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Fremont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was Rodriguez's first of the season.
Fremont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Fort Wayne Crusaders, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
