If the Seligman Antelopes were riding high off their 76-35 takedown of the Fredonia Lynx last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Seligman took a 73-59 bruising from Williams on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Seligman lost, one person who can't be blamed is Montae Walker. Despite the final result, he scored 32 points along with seven steals and two blocks. Walker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carmelo Manakaja, who scored 18 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Williams found their leader in underclassman Cade Trimble, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Trimble continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. JP Echeverria was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and eight assists.
Seligman has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Williams, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seligman will take on El Capitan/Centennial Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. El Capitan/Centennial Academy is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Williams, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ash Fork at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Ash Fork focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
