Baseball Recap: Fossil Ridge Wins Going Away Against Loveland

Fossil Ridge barely beat Loveland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The SaberCats put the hurt on the Red Wolves with a sharp 16-1 win on Wednesday. Considering the SaberCats have won four matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Vedant Sharma tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also put up four walks, which were his first of the season.

At the plate, Fossil Ridge got a massive performance out of Mason Griffin, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Griffin has posted since back in March of 2024. Tyler Kephart was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Fossil Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loveland only posted an OBP of .355.

The victory made it two in a row for Fossil Ridge and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Loveland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Fossil Ridge will look to defend their home field on Monday against Mountain Vista at 4:30 p.m. As for Loveland, they will take on Bear Creek at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
