Westside is 1-9 against Hector since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rebels are taking a road trip to take on the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Westside is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Mountainburg get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rebels as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Torie Nobles made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Westside got a massive performance out of Ayla Highfill, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles. That's the most hits Highfill has posted since back in March. Penny Wolf also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Westside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Hector made easy work of Two Rivers on Monday and carried off a 13-0 win. Considering the Wildcats have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sarena Myers and Abigail Dodson did most of the damage at the plate: Myers went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Dodson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Campbell, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Westside's record is now 5-11. As for Hector, their record now sits at 11-2.
