The Boquet Valley Griffins will square off against the Colton-Pierrepont Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Boquet Valley will be strutting in after a win while Colton-Pierrepont will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Thursday, Boquet Valley strolled past Seton Catholic Central with points to spare, taking the game 55-36.
Carson Leibeck continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 12 for 23 on his way to 26 points and four steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Boquet Valley's points. Colba Furman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Boquet Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Colton-Pierrepont unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Lawrence Central. The Colts were down 43-23 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Boquet Valley will have to contain Ty Farns as he made an impact in Colton-Pierrepont's last game. He went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Farns is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cody Trimm, who posted seven points and six boards.
Boquet Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for Colton-Pierrepont, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Boquet Valley has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Colton-Pierrepont struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Boquet Valley won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, slipping by Colton-Pierrepont 47-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Boquet Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
