Fans got a thrill when Brody Frazier and Jacob Yarbroughh connected against Bishop Gorman. The connection went for 72 yards, the longest such play in TAPPS Division II District 2 this season.
Dallas Christian extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Crusaders, 41-23. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Chargers.
Trinity Christian's dynamic duo of Tre Gilbert and Garry Nolley proved tough for Shelton to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gilbert threw for 150 yards and 4 touchdowns and Nolley had 80 yards receiving. Jon Cole helped Trinity Christian's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 70 yards.
Mason Dufrene was a key player and the best on defense this week as Dallas Christian bested Bishop Gorman. He recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
He went 5-12 with 1 interception.
Preston Nix provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Mike Wheeler's team topped Coby Gipson's team. He completed 2 passes for 26 yards and also ran for 208 yards. Nix's favorite target this week was Yarbroughh, who caught 2 passes for 88 yards.
The Crusaders' Tristan Saint and Collin Parks have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Saint has thrown for 2,552 yards this season, while Parks has 60 catches for 1,089 yards. Nix from the Chargers leads the league in rushing with 1,126 yards.
Bishop Gorman's Connor Hobbs needs only 19 receiving yards against the Chargers to crack 1,000 for the season. He has recorded 53 catches for 981 yards this year.
At the moment, the Tigers are in fourth, while Dallas Christian is in first.
Brook Hill moved up to 560 from 609 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in TAPPS Division II District 2. The Guard climbed the ranks as a result of beating Grace Community 27-14.
