Eldorado has won three straight games at home, while Rio Grande has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Eagles will host the Ravens at 4:00 p.m. Eldorado is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Eldorado got the win against Santa Fe by a conclusive 15-5. Considering the Eagles have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Nathaniel Jaramillo, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Yturbe, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eldorado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.
Rio Grande came out on top against West Mesa on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Ravens skirted past the Mustangs 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ravens have posted against the Mustangs since March 16, 2019.
Rio Grande let Luis Guillen and Logan Reed run wild. Guillen went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Reed went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Reyes Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Eldorado's victory bumped their record up to 22-4. As for Rio Grande, their win bumped their record up to 17-8.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eldorado has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .527. However, it's not like Rio Grande struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eldorado beat Rio Grande 8-3 in their previous meeting back in February. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Ravens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
