Football Recap: Weaver Piles Up the Points Against ATI [Abbott RVT/Immaculate]

Weaver had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their matchup on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 63-28 win over ATI [Abbott RVT/Immaculate]. The Beavers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Weaver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kadain Claflin-Coy, who threw for 325 yards and six TDs on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 70 yards on only six carries. Those six passing touchdowns gave Claflin-Coy a new career-high. Weaver's leading receiver Jyiere Perry was Claflin-Coy's top target yet again, picking up 175 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Weaver was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 240 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Weaver's defense stepped up as well, laying out Hunter Von Minden four times. Aden Brown was especially locked on to ATI [Abbott RVT/Immaculate]'s QB and sacked him twice. Johnathan Mitchell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, ATI [Abbott RVT/Immaculate] still got an impressive performance from Von Minden, who threw for 271 yards and three TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. Von Minden has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Josh Fontaine was in the mix as well, providing ATI [Abbott RVT/Immaculate] with two touchdowns.

Weaver's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.5 points over those games. As for ATI [Abbott RVT/Immaculate], the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 8-3 record.

Weaver wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 43-6 defeat against New Canaan on the 8th. ATI [Abbott RVT/Immaculate] does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
