On Monday, the Sissonville Indians faced the Nitro Wildcats in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sissonville ended up on the wrong side of a tough 55-32 walloping at the hands of the Wildcats. Sissonville has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Despite the loss, Sissonville still got an impressive performance from Kynadee Britton, who scored 20 points. That was a full 62.5% of Sissonville's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Hillabold, who scored a point along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Natalie Smith was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds for Nitro. Ava Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Sissonville dropped their record down to 11-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Nitro, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sissonville will take on the Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Scott focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. As for Nitro, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Generals at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Winfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Saturday.
