The East Allegheny Wild Cats had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They slipped by Knoch 14-13. That result was just more of the same for these two, as East Allegheny also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Knoch lost, one person who can't be blamed is Codi Mullen. Despite the final result, he rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Knoch's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Brady Pflugh and his two sacks.
East Allegheny's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 South Allegheny and 2-7 Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37% over those games). As for Knoch, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.
East Allegheny will take on Shady Side Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Knoch, they will head out on the road to face off against Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 438th, while Knoch is ranked 143rd).
