White Oak is 0-10 against West Carteret since April of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. The last four games White Oak has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
White Oak will bounce into Monday's game after beating Swansboro, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Pirates 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted against the Pirates since June 11, 2021.
White Oak's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Watson, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Brandon Brandt also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Carteret). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Ocracoke a 20-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Parker Davenport looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Lincoln Strump was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Mann, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs.
White Oak has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for West Carteret, they pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
White Oak came up short against West Carteret in their previous meeting on April 1st, falling 6-3. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
