The Central Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 65-39 defeat at the hands of Jay. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central in their matchups with Jay: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: Carson Baxley scored 14 points along with two steals. Baxley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Ellison, who scored 11 points.
Ethan Mcdonald was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points for Jay. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mcdonald has scored at least a third of Jay's points. Another player making a difference was Tanner Mandell, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Central's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-7. As for Jay, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Calvary Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jay, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Walton at 6:45 p.m.
