The Calvary Christian Academy Eagles were the 39-35 winner over the NSU University Sharks when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Calvary Christian Academy fell just short of NSU University by a score of 45-43.
Teagan Wakefield and Taryn Wakefield certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Wakefield scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Wakefield dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Wakefield scored a full 34.9% of Calvary Christian Academy's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brianna Staples, who scored six points.
NSU University found their leader in underclassman Tatum Billie, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. The matchup was Billie's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Kenna Cohen-osceola was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Calvary Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for NSU University, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.
Calvary Christian Academy will challenge Boca Raton Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for NSU University, they will be playing at home against Marathon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
