After two games on the road, Berthold is heading back home. They will take on the Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood Mavericks at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Berthold comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Thursday, Berthold was beaten by Westhope/Newburg 79-24. While losing is never fun, Berthold can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Westhope/Newburg is ranked eighth).
Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 62-60 to Harvey, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Berthold's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-2.
Berthold was dealt a bruising 77-40 loss at the hands of Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Berthold avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
