After flying high against the Neodesha Blue Streaks on Tuesday, the West Elk Patriots came back down to earth. West Elk lost to Sedan on the road by a decisive 56-42 margin on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Elk in their matchups with Sedan: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, West Elk still got an impressive performance from Maddex Moreno, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Moreno's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Uriah Tillapaugh, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
West Elk's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Sedan, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Elk will square off against South Haven at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South Haven will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 215th, while West Elk is ranked 62nd). As for Sedan, they will head out on the road to face off against Olpe on Friday.
