The Manvel Mavericks will take on the Pearland Oilers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Manvel is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Manvel came into this matchup off a tough six-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Shadow Creek by a score of 8-6 on Friday.
Manvel saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Brayden Tuiasosopo, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pearland). They put the hurt on Alvin with a sharp 15-3 victory on Friday. The Oilers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Nicholas Partida made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other pitching news, Mitchell Araujo looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits.
Back at the plate, Ashton Arredondo was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Brady Brewer was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Pearland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Pearland is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. Manvel's loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Manvel suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Pearland in their previous meeting back in April of 2016. Will Manvel have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
