The Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Jets gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They secured a 28-24 W over Cheney RVT. That's another feather in the cap for Academy of Aerospace and Engineering, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the defeat, Cheney RVT had strong showings from Trinity Hazel, who scored 15 points, and Myaliz Lopez, who scored eight points along with seven blocks. Hazel scored a full 62.5% of Cheney RVT's points, the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Academy of Aerospace and Engineering's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Cheney RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy of Aerospace and Engineering will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Parish Hill at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Cheney RVT won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Prince RVT at 5:15 p.m. on January 12th.
