Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southwestern). They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Columbus Christian Crusaders on Thursday. Landon Drake made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Southwestern is undefeated when Drake posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Chris Cecil was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Kyle Beck was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Southwestern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
