The Triad Cardinals suffered their biggest defeat since November 29, 2023 on Wednesday. They were beaten by Mechanicsburg 76-43. While losing is never fun, Triad can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 628th, while Mechanicsburg is ranked 76th).
Triad's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia LeMay, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. LeMay has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn McCoy, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds.
Triad bumped their record down to 5-10 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mechanicsburg, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Triad will take on Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Northeastern is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Mechanicsburg, they will be playing at home against Fairbanks at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Fairbanks focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Monday.
